South Korea: Bts' Jin Completes Basic Training For Military Service

YEONCHEON, South Korea - Jin, the oldest member of K-pop supergroup BTS, began his 18-month mandatory military service at a South Korean military base on Tuesday as fans gathered near the base to say goodbye to their star.

The other six young members of BTS will be in the military respectively in the coming years, which means that the world's biggest boy band group will have to take a break, probably for a few years. Jin, who turned 30 earlier this month, entered boot camp in Yeoncheon, a city near the tense border with North Korea, for five weeks of military training with other recruits, the defense ministry said. After training that involved firing guns, throwing grenades and marching, he and other recruits would be sent to military units across the country.
